 HTC FLOAT WINS 1st PLACE
IN EDISON FESTIVAL OF LIGHT PARADE

High Tech Central's float in the Edison Festival of Light parade, "The Life and Inventions of Thomas Edison," won a 1st place trophy on February 21, 2009. High school and adult students worked side by side to build the float. It depicted various inventions of Thomas A. Edison and important aspects of his life. Welding students fabricated the float platform from a truck that was donated to the school by Wallace International, Auto Body students painted the cab and frame, Caprentry students built the main platform and structures, Electrical Wiring students wired the float with outlets and junction boxes and provided the lights for the float, Gas Engine students worked on the engine and generator for the electrical systems, Electronic Technology students created a LED light show and music, and students from other programs decorated the float. This project is an example of real-life experiences students get while attending training at High Tech Central.
