APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS
The Tri-County Apprenticeship Academy is made up of 6 apprentice academies: Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning), Pipe Fitters, Low Voltage Maintenance, and Fire Sprinklers. Each program is 4 years in length. Each of the programs provides students the opportunity to earn a completion certificate and acquire the title of “journeyman.” To be enrolled in the program, students will be interviewed by the Academy and sponsored by their employer. The adult students work full-time during the day and attend 3-hour classes one to two nights a week. Students must complete 144 hours of classroom instruction per year and 2,000 hours of OJT (On-the-job Training) during each year of their program. Students are responsible for obtaining their employers’ endorsement to verify their attendance and turn it in at regular scheduled times throughout the year. The main focus of this program is for students to achieve a licensed apprenticeship status. For more information regarding this off-campus program, call Donna Beasley at 225-0995.
